Why no peerage for Mrs Downes and no on-street Woolwich memorial for Lee Rigby?

Missing Blackpool girl, 14, abused, murdered and ‘sliced up for kebabs’

POLICE have reopened a probe into the death of a teenager who vanished amid fears she was sexually abused and made into kebabs.

Officers are determined to find out what happened to 14-year-old Charlene Downes after she disappeared 10 years ago.

She was last seen in an Asian fast-food area of Blackpool where girls gathered to swap sex for alcohol and free meals.

Charlene was known by social services and is thought to have been used for sex by up to 100 Asian Muslims.

Police have also appealed for information to help solve the murder of Paige Chivers, 15, who went missing from the same area in 2007.

Officers suspect Paige was groomed for sex then killed but her body, like Charlene’s, has never been found.

They are urging witnesses to come forward, saying the families “have a right to know what happened” [and our people have a right to justice].

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Rhodes said “Charlene and Paige’s friends will be grown up and have their own children. I hope they may be more confident now in coming forward.”

In 2007, Iyad Albattikhi stood trial for Charlene’s murder when prosecutors claimed her body was sliced up and had “gone into kebabs”.

[Largely due to the incompetence of the police and CPS] Albattikhi was cleared and co-defendant Mohammed Reveshi was acquitted of helping to dispose of the body.
