So what?

Has anyone else noticed the objectionable habit of some interviewees on TV and radio, of prefacing every remark with a misplaced use of the word so?

This ignorant misuse of the English language is probably an attempt on the part of those guilty of it to patronize their listeners, rather like the equally inappropriate use of the word look before a reply.

I suspect that this dumbed down didacticism (to coin a phrase) which has infected our airwaves originates the other side of the Atlantic.

I propose the name so-and-so as a generic term to describe one who misuses the word so in this annoying way.
