A lorry driver has admitted killing three children and their mother in horrific eight-car pile up while changing the music on his mobile phone.
Mother Tracy Houghton died alongside sons Josh, 11, Ethan, 13, and step-daughter Aimee Goldsmith, 11, in the crash on the A34, in Oxfordshire, on August 10.
Their Vauxhall Corse was shunted under a lorry after Thomasz Kroker, 30, ploughed into a queue of stationary cars.
Kroker, from Andover, Hampshire, had been distracted by his mobile phone for at least seven seconds in the moments leading up to the crash, the court heard.
The father-of-one appeared at Reading Crown Court today charged with causing their deaths.
He also admitted to a single count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving to a fifth person. Kroker will be sentenced later this month.
Prosecutor Charles Ward Jackson, said: ‘One of the issues a sentencing judge will have to think about is how long the defendant was distracted by his mobile phone.
‘This was at least seven-and-three-quarter seconds as shown by dash cam video.
